Step-by-Step Application Process

Obtain public or private health insurance from an insurer authorized in Spain, with coverage comparable to Spain's public system. Travel insurance does not qualify.

Prove Financial Means

Show bank statements proving at least €28,800/year for one person, plus €7,200/year for each dependent, in passive income or savings.

Gather & Apostille Documents

Criminal background check, medical certificate, all apostilled with Hague apostille.

Apply at Spanish Consulate

Submit your visa application at the Spanish consulate with jurisdiction over your US state.

Register as Foreign Resident

Within 30 days of arrival, apply for your TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero).
